Ella: probably married with kid/kids, should own a firm by then and other business. Also, i’v got real passion for shoes, so i should probably have a shoe closet.

Ella: I aspire to be great, to be able to affect a lot of lives positively.

Ella: Trust me, everyday in this school

Ella: I think its my face

Dera: I like the fact you are able to say what you want to say, when you want to say it, without thinking what another person would think. You are free with yourself.

Dera: My aspiration in life, is to be successful beyond my ambitions.

2016 ANNUAL DEAN'S MOOT COMPETITION

All is set for the biggest MOOT COMPETITION  in Kings University College. 

THE ANNUAL DEAN'S MOOT COMPETITION 2016 in partnership with the Law Students' Union is going down on the 18th of March 2016. 

A lot of expectations from the teams. 

The excitement this year is bolstered by the fact that there is a lot of bragging right to be earned and the winning team goes home with 500 Ghana Cedis.

This competition will witness for the first time, the mercurial Phebe Okpidu, a strong female student advocate on the public stage representing the DAUNTLESS WARLORDS . Not only that, it will be the first time she personally comes head to head with Legendary Whizkid Clement Opara of the MARBLE CHAMBERS. 

Taking into account that it is a team effort, the excitement will be electrified further by expectations from Veteran Mooters, the colossal Khalifa and Umar On Phebe's side and the dynamic, witty Legal Femmè Ene Iwodi on Clement's side. 

The excitement might be cut short by the KENT CHAMBERS Led by the elegant and dapper LSU President Anita and the combined efforts of Ghana's energetic smart law student Cornelia and the Vocal and Sharp-witted aura of Chidera. 

Who takes the overall oralist award ?? 

Less pressure might seem to be on the level 200 rookies but we expect Abubakar's Chamber Speech day experience to fortify Phebe's threat. 

Clement will be looking to the Spiritual experience of Theophilus Acquah and the diminutive Sharp skills of One time LSU VP aspirant hopeful Abigail Nuhu. 

Anita on the other hand will look to the well composed modish Chizaram for backup!!!

You just can't miss all the excitement, intrigues and advocacy at its very best.

sorry for the late post, dumsor really held me back.

I had the chance to interview two amazing people in this faculty, wonderful experience trust me.

Our first personality for this week is William in Level 100

 Nana ama: What do you do for fun?

William: listening to music and surfing the internet

Nana ama: in the next 5 years, where do you see yourself?

William: hmmmm, In the Ghana Military Academy

Nana ama: doing what exactly?

William: should be their legal executive

Nana ama: Who motivates you in life?

William: Former President John Agyekum Kufuor

Nana ama: why?

William: He is an extraordinary man of excellence and class.

Nana ama: Who is your crush in this faculty 

William: hahaha, well i do have one

Nana ama: please tell 

William: I can’t tell because i don’t want any awkward moment with her.

Nana ama : remember, you don’t need to be physically or emotionally attracted to her

William: I know, but I’m attracted to this one and i don’t want to disclose who because like i said earlier on i don’t want any awkward moment with her.

Nana ama: Alright William, thats fine.

Nana ama: Then ill love to know, whats your love life like?

William: Single and Searching

Nana ama: hmmmm, then you should probably disclose your crush who knows she just might be single and searching as well.

William: don’t worry, when the time is right ill let her know.

Nana ama: Whats your aspiration in life?

William: Help the poor and needy in Ghana through an established society

Nana ama : Thats amazing, there are a lot of people out there who would be touched by your sacrifices, I wish you luck

Nana ama: Words of advice?

William: My advice to everyone is that whatever they have set to achieve is attainable, the only person they need in the equation is Jesus.

Olotu Ayibadenmodei

Nana ama: What do you do for fun?

Denmodei: Reading novels, uhhhhh watching movies especially Korean movies.

Nana ama: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

Denmodei: I should be done with law school and masters by then. Basically I should be starting my own law firm

Nana ama: What area would you love to practice in?

Denmodei: haven’t really decided yet, I’m still trying to find my bearing.

Nana ama: Who motivates you in life?

Denmodei: My mum, she’s my everything, but thats not all i have really nice friends that believe in me and make sure i don’t give up.

Nana ama: They must like you, your probably a wonderful friend to them.

Denmodei: hahaha, I try my best.

Nana ama: who is your crush in the law faculty?

Denmodei: wow, I don’t have any.

Nana ama: You must have. I don’t mean someone your physically or emotional attracted to, just anyone you really admire maybe because of certain qualities

Denmodei: hmmmm, tricky question

Nana ama: lol, just spill

Denmodei: I guess Kelvin Norin, he is really nice and caring. Funny how its just not to me or his friends but as a matter of fact he’s like that to everyone. I admire such qualities, very few possess it. 

Nana Ama: so I’m wondering whats your love life like?

Denmodei: i’m single

Nana ama : just single, or your searching as well?

Denmodei: Not really searching, i guess whatever the wind brings.

Nana ama: you go girl!!, i like that attitude just go with the wind.

Nana ama: what’s your aspiration in life?

Denmodei: My main aim is to be a badass lawyer, someone whose personality motivates people. Also, I definitely want to own a a primary and secondary school.

Nana ama: I guess you love children

Denmodei: yes i love children and ill want to be able to give them good quality education, in as much as theres so much money to be made.

Nana ama: Any words of advice?

Denmodei : Promise yourself never to fail again, live towards it and you’ll never fail again.

PERSONALITY OF THE WEEK (7th - 14th March)

The personality of the week based on popular demand and merit goes to our very own sophisticated Phebe.

Ene: What is your name?
Phebe: My name is Phebe Ochanya Okpidu, I'm sure you didn't know my middle name.

Ene: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Phebe: I hope to see myself married
Ene: hahaha AMEN!!
Phebe: (grins) well settled, owning many business conglomerates, I hope to see myself managing Bluechips company. hmmm trust me, its a lot.

Ene: Who motivates you in life?
Phebe: God, God first, then my family. They have been really really supportive and I get my strength from them.

Ene: What do you do for fun?
Phebe: I watch movies and dance a lot in my room.

Ene: Who is your crush in the law faulty necessarily not someone you are attracted probably someone whose attributes you admire and why?
Phebe: They are so many I admire, but then I admire Emmanuel Joshua (Level 300).
Joshua is down to earth, He is really intelligent and i just like his personality.

Ene: Everyone wants to know what your love life is like, tell us your fairy tale
Phebe: Iv had my fair share of hurtful relationships
Ene: I know right.
Phebe: But presently I'm in a very serious relationship, I'm dating this nice guy *winks*
Ene: Whats our husband's name?
Phebe; I can't disclose it.
Ene: Lol, alright so definitely no boyfriend snatcher.
Phebe: He is such a nice person, I won't describe my relationship as perfect because we have our ups and downs. But so far it has been and would stay beautiful.
Ene: awwww, Major cute.

Ene: Whats your aspiration in life?
Phebe: I see myself advocating for women, over the years women have been going through a lot especially abuse and violence. A man does something and he gets away with it but a women does the same thing and gets criticised. I really want to stand and fight for the women.
Ene: Phebe for the women!!! especially for the rapists going scott free.
Phebe: Yels, thats why I'm going for the post of Women Commissioner in the SRC. The females in Kings University College needs to be represented with the best.

Ene: Thank you for being our personality of the year, it was really amazing hearing your story.

CHAMBER SPEECH DAY!!!

The Chamber Speech day turned out to be a huge success, despite the bad sound system we had to deal with throughout. Dr J. Williams and Professor Edmund chaired the occasion.

Professor Edmund Ato Kwaw, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Governance and Law expressed his heart felt appreciation towards the executives of the Law Student Union who took their time and effort to plan the event.

The event was anchored by our very own erudite Chidi Opara, who carried the crowd along and ensured humour was in the air.

KUDOUS CLEMENT!!!

Our lovely LSU President encouraged all law students not to shy away from LSU activities and embrace team work.

Most importantly, team work breeds success which is the main aim of one belonging into a chamber.

The Young ones in Level 100 wowed the crowd, as little was expected from them. Lydia graciously represented the Inner Temple and Mc Donald slayed for the House of Lords.

Other Participants in the competition were;

Cornelia G. Opoku - House of Lords (Level 300)

Addison Perewari - Inner Temple (Level 300)

HOUSE OF LORDS won the bragging rights due to their amazing performance they displayed, even though the margin between House of Lords and Inner temple was merely 2 points.

It wasn’t just a competition but also a guest lecture was delivered by our prestigious Dean on the topic “Who owns the sperm and Ova under Ghanaian Law” which seemed very disturbing at first, because wasn’t it quite obvious we all owned our God given sperm and Ova?

However, the Dean explained what the position of the Common law is when it comes to ownership of sperm, Ova and even Embryos kept in fertility clinics even though strange to we the black culture. He related what culture says and what the white men says which seemed a bit controversial. This stirred up a lot of discussions and suggestions from different lecturers.

In attendance were Professor R.K. Salman, Barr.(Mrs) Enendu, The Dean of Student Affairs; Mr Attakorah, Professor Kwame Agyenim - Boateng  and the Head Librarian.

We were urged, that if in circumstances we happen to be in any law making body, laws should be enacted to make provision for whether a sperm is property or not and not wait till a legal issue arrises before we now try to scribble and solve the matter.

LEGAL FRATERNITY

The Legal Fraternity that i dreamt about since last year finally became a reality.

Waiting endlessly for Feb 27th, I had already picked out my outfit and practiced the fake accent i was going to use throughout.

Posters and Broadcasts everyday filled my Phone in anticipation of the Day.

I had played the day in my head thousands of times and i just couldn’t wait for 27th.

February seemed to be dragging its tail and it felt like 2 months before Feb 26th finally came.

FEB 26th; I couldn’t sleep, i kept tossing and turning and looking at my alarm clock.

2am,3am,4am and Finally 5am.

I jumped out of bed and quickly got ready, i didn’t even want to hear that I missed my bus.

Make up all fleek, laces tied, camera packed, phone charged

I WAS READY.

The walk to the Cafeteria and many guys complimented me, maybe because I was wearing booty shorts but all that i could think of was please you people should not block my shine today.

First Bummer, The bus wasn't anywhere close to school and we had to wait.

Moral was already lost because my make up was beginning to smear off and there was no way i could touch up.

Singing and Dancing with my friends to while away time, the bus was finally here.

The ride was Jolly until i found out that all the seven schools that were supposed to be coming called off and only my school and 2 others (Central and Legon) would be attending.

I did the maths and tried to solve the possibility of finally getting a bae today, already depressed I still had a small light in me that I shouldn’t worry.

We reached Legon, and after breakfast of milkless tea and surprisingly delicious beef sandwich, we were headed to Boti Falls and Umbrella Rocks.

Finally we arrived at the forecourt, seriously searching for any potential bae and to my disappointment my heart couldn’t find any, maybe because the guys were few or just because I couldn’t find the Chocolate skinned with Caramel toping guy all swagged up i had pictured in my head.

Realising that my search was officially aborted, i decided to snap out of it and enjoy my 106 cedis to the fullest.

The Tour guide started the walk and then the news hit me that the walk only to see the umbrella rock would last for about an hour.

I did not expect it and immediately started thinking of the Oreo Milkshake i had refused to take last night because i was beginning to gain on the fat side and was angry because this trip would definitely result in me shedding off some pounds. Infact, all the gyms sessions i had missed i was just about to do it at a stretch.

After all the murmurings and bitterness as to why my friend convinced me to come on this trip, the journey started.

The hot sun scorching on me and trying so hard not to fall down or my priceless iPhone 6s Plus getting scratched, while battling with the rocks.

Due to my lazy ass, i had many stops and was probably the last to get to the umbrella rocks.

In the midst of my bitterness ,it struck me as to how beautiful Ghana is and how wonderful God is.

Someone even made a joke about Beast of no Nation being acted here.

Finally i got to my destination and took amazing pictures.

Then back to the forecourt and to see the Boti Falls they said…

My legs were literally shaking as i gulped my energy drink and i wished someone could just carry me back to the bus.

God decided to show his amazing power and a thunderous rain decided to fall which made all of us soaked and running back to the shade.

In Other Words;

Yes, I still found my fiction made man but thats a story for another day.

Yes, the trip to Boti falls and Umbrella Rocks was amazing and worthwhile.

Yes, I enjoyed seeing Grace twerk and dance on a pole.

Yes, I’ll want to go back to Boti falls since the falls did not actually work only if i can avoid going up and down the 250 steps.

ANITA EMERGES PRESIDENT

The Law Students of Kings University College, Accra, Ghana  have on Friday 20th November 2015, elected their first President for the 2015/2016 Academic Year. The Whole week saw both contestants campaign and lay down strategies in order to be victorious.
The winner Had on her team the erudite Chidi Opara, the first Chief Justice of the school. Other prominent members of her team included Dagfasze, John, Rosemary, Ene and Goldheart.

On the other hand, her counterpart Chidera Adibe had on his team, Khalifa Muhammad, a fellow aspirant who was disqualified from the race having intended to pick the form after the stated date. The team also boasted Rudolph, Victor, Nelson, Joshua and Abigail.

At the end of the day, Anita and her Vice President Kelvin Norin won with a margin of twenty (20) Votes.

Congratulations and we wish her a successful tenure.
